TERMS
Terms of Service
In short: Pliing turns API calls into push notifications on your Apple devices. Receiving notifications is free. The sender pays. You decide who may send to you, and you can withdraw permission at any time. Delivery is best-effort and not guaranteed, so do not rely on Pliing alone for safety-critical alerts.
1. Who we are and what these terms cover
Pliing is provided by Oclin Home AS (“we”, “us”). These terms apply to your use of the Pliing app for Apple devices, the API at api.pliing.app, the organization console at console.pliing.app and the website pliing.app (together, the “service”). By creating an account or using the service you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use the service.
How we process personal data is described in the Privacy Policy. You can reach us at chb@oclin.no. More about Oclin Home AS is available at oclin.dev.
2. Account and sign-in
- You sign in with Apple. You need an Apple Account but not your own Apple Developer membership. Organization owners and members sign in to the console with a one-time code sent by email.
- You must be at least 13 years old. To enter paid agreements you must have legal capacity or your guardian’s consent.
- Your account gets a PliingID. It is a public address that tells the API which account a notification is for. It does not grant access or permission to send on its own.
- You are responsible for what happens under your account and API keys. Keep keys secret, store them safely and revoke them if they may have been exposed.
- If you create an organization, you confirm that you are authorized to bind it to these terms.
3. Senders, recipients and consent
- Recipients never pay. The sender pays.
- A personal API key created in the app can only send to your own PliingID.
- A service that wants to send to others must request permission and wait for the recipient’s approval. Regular notifications and one-time codes are approved separately. The recipient can revoke permission at any time, after which the sender’s new notifications stop.
- You choose which of your devices receive push. The inbox follows your account regardless of push settings. Your choices cannot override operating-system settings.
4. Delivery without guarantees
- Pliing distinguishes between a notification being accepted by the API, Apple accepting the push message, and you having read it. Apple’s push service, networks, Focus and device settings can delay or prevent a notification from appearing. We do not guarantee delivery, timing or that a notification is shown exactly once.
- Do not use Pliing as your only alerting channel where life, health, property or critical infrastructure could be at risk. The “critical” level is a classification in Pliing. It is not Apple’s Critical Alerts and does not bypass Focus or silent mode.
- Notifications have a limited lifetime so stale operational alerts are not delivered after an outage. The inbox keeps notifications for 90 days. One-time codes are stored encrypted, are never included in the push message and are deleted when they expire.
5. Acceptable use
You are responsible for the content you send and for having a lawful basis to send it to the recipient. You must not:
- send unsolicited messages, spam or marketing to people who have not approved you as a sender;
- bypass consent, quotas, rate limits or other technical limits, or give an API key to a third party;
- send misleading, phishing or harmful content, impersonate another sender, or send unlawful content;
- send passwords, card numbers or special categories of personal data (for example health data) in notification text;
- send one-time codes to anyone other than the person who requested them;
- disrupt the service, burden it unnecessarily or test it for vulnerabilities without a written agreement with us. Report security findings to chb@oclin.no.
We may suspend keys, projects or accounts that break these rules, and will notify you where possible.
6. Pricing and payment
Receiving is free. You do not pay to receive notifications and one-time codes, read the inbox or manage your devices.
Organizations (web console)
Organizations pay a monthly subscription through Stripe. The subscription is intended for businesses, so consumer withdrawal rights do not apply. Prices are in Norwegian kroner, excluding VAT.
| Plan | NOK/month | Projects | Members | Recipients | Notifications/month |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Start | 249 | 3 | 3 | 100 | 10,000 |
| Growth | 499 | 10 | 10 | 1,000 | 50,000 |
| Scale | 999 | 25 | 25 | 5,000 | 250,000 |
- The subscription renews automatically every month until you cancel. You manage payment method, invoices, plan changes and cancellation in Stripe’s billing portal. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the paid period. We do not refund partial periods unless the law requires it.
- Upgrades apply immediately with a prorated adjustment. Downgrades apply from the next period.
- The monthly notification allowance resets on the first day of each calendar month (UTC). One accepted notification counts once, regardless of the number of devices. One-time codes count too. Retries with the same idempotency key do not count again. We do not automatically bill overage. When the allowance is used, new sends are rejected until next month or until you upgrade.
- If a payment fails, the organization keeps access for up to three days while Stripe retries the card. When paid access ends, new API keys cannot be created and sending stops. Existing content and members are not deleted.
- We may change prices and limits with at least 30 days’ notice before the next period. A change does not apply to a period you have already paid for.
Personal subscription (App Store)
Personal sending is free during the private beta. You do not need to buy a subscription to test. Apple Sandbox test purchases are not charged.
We may offer a personal, auto-renewing monthly subscription in the app for sending notifications to your own PliingID. Price, period and terms are shown in the app before you buy. The purchase is made with Apple and charged to your Apple Account. The subscription renews automatically unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the period ends. You manage and cancel it in your Apple Account’s subscription settings, and Apple handles refunds under its own rules. When a personal subscription expires, personal sending stops, while receiving and the inbox remain free.
Deleting your Pliing account does not cancel your Apple subscription. Cancel it in your App Store settings before deleting the account. Purchases belong to the Pliing account used to buy them and are not moved to a new account. Restore purchases in the app while signed in to that same account.
7. Content and rights
You keep the rights to the content you send and receive. You give us a limited right to store, process and deliver the content to recipients so that we can provide the service. Pliing, the logo, the software and the documentation belong to Oclin Home AS. You receive a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable right to use the service under these terms. The Space Grotesk and JetBrains Mono typefaces are used under the SIL Open Font License.
8. Availability, changes and termination
- We work for stable operation but cannot guarantee that the service is always available. Maintenance, faults and issues at Apple or other providers can cause interruptions.
- We may change, extend or remove features. Paying customers receive reasonable notice of changes that materially reduce the service.
- You can delete your account at any time in the app under Settings → Delete account and data. The account and associated data are then deleted as described in the Privacy Policy.
- We may pause the service or parts of it for an account for breach of these terms, for security risks or when the law requires it. If we end the service for a paying organization that has not breached the terms, we give at least 30 days’ notice or refund prepaid time.
9. Liability
The limitations in this section do not apply to intent or gross negligence, or where the law does not allow a limitation. Otherwise we are not liable for indirect loss, lost profits, business interruption or loss caused by a notification not arriving, arriving late or not being shown. Towards businesses, our total liability is limited to what you paid for the service in the previous 12 months. These terms do not limit rights you have as a consumer under mandatory law.
10. Apple
The app is distributed through the App Store. These terms are an agreement between you and Oclin Home AS, not with Apple. Unless we have agreed otherwise, Apple’s Standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement also applies. Apple has no obligation to provide maintenance or support for the app. Questions, complaints and claims about the app are directed to us. Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these terms and can enforce them against you.
11. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. For material changes we notify you in the app, in the console, on pliing.app or by email at least 30 days before they take effect for paying customers. Continued use after the effective date means you accept the new terms. The date at the top shows the latest update.
12. Governing law and disputes
Norwegian law applies. We try to resolve disputes amicably. If that fails, the dispute is decided by Norwegian courts, unless mandatory consumer law entitles you to use the courts where you live.
